STAFF

Our coaching staff includes current and former NCAA Division I players, as well as Junior A, Senior A, ALL, and NLL players and coaches. We focus on creating a competitive, high-intensity, high-tempo environment where players can reach their full potential. Strong player-coach relationships are at the core of our approach, helping athletes grow into not only successful players but also well-rounded, character-driven individuals.

DYLAN GATT

Founder

Dylan Gatt grew up in Welland, Ontario, playing minor lacrosse with the Welland Raiders, St. Catharines Athletics, and Team Ontario. He was first drafted to the OJLL Akwesasne Indians before being traded back to St. Catharines to play alongside his brother and finish his junior career as a captain and two-way standout. He was later drafted by the Six Nations Snipers of the Arena Lacrosse League.

Dylan moved to Louisville, KY, to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at Bellarmine University as an attackman, where he discovered his passion for coaching and developing young athletes. With over a decade of experience coaching and growing the Louisville lacrosse community, Dylan combines his high-level coaching and playing experience with a commitment to helping the next generation of players reach their full potential.

STEVE SORIANO

Coach

Steve Soriano is a native of Flemington, New Jersey, where he played high school lacrosse at Hunterdon Central High School.

Soriano previously coached at the NCAA level, serving as the Offensive Coordinator for the men’s lacrosse program at Bellarmine University. He began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, Bellarmine, where he worked closely with the face-off unit, and also spent time as an assistant coach at Princeton University.

 

In the Louisville area, Soriano has also coached at Christian Academy of Louisville and Trinity High School, contributing to program development and the continued growth of youth lacrosse in the region. As a player, Soriano competed at Bellarmine University as a face-off specialist and defensive midfielder.

JC HUTCHINS

JC Hutchins is a lacrosse coach with deep roots in the Louisville lacrosse community. A Maryland native and Westminster High School alum.

JC Hutchins brings a strong understanding of the box game on both sides of the floor, along with valuable insight into the goaltending position. A former player for the Louisville Canards, he combines firsthand playing experience with a deep knowledge of the game to help develop players in all areas.

ANDREW WOLFORD

Coach

Andrew Wolford is a longtime lacrosse coach and former collegiate attackman. He starred at Bellarmine University, where he was a four-year letterwinner, and played at Worthington Kilbourne High School in Columbus, Ohio, under his father, Bill Wolford, a highly respected veteran high school lacrosse coach.

NATE BLUE

Coach

Nate is a lacrosse coach and former collegiate midfielder originally from Medina, Ohio. He was a standout at Medina High School — a four-year letterwinner, two-time team captain, 2011 U.S. Lacrosse All-American, and first team All-Ohio midfielder. He went on to play at Bellarmine University. In his coaching career, Blue has been the Head Coach of Louisville Kings Lacrosse since 2017, previously coached youth programs including Burning River and Ballard Lacrosse, and has earned multiple tournament championships with his teams.

PETE SCHROEDER

Coach

Pete Schroeder, a New Jersey native and son of a lacrosse coach, is the longtime head coach of Trinity High School Lacrosse in Louisville, Kentucky. Since helping launch the program in 2002, he has guided the Rocks to eight state championships and over 300 career wins, establishing Trinity as a perennial powerhouse.

In addition to his success at Trinity, Schroeder has served as head coach of the Kentucky Stickhorses in the North American Lacrosse League and brings extensive knowledge of the box lacrosse game.

SEAN GROGAN

Coach

Sean Grogan is an attackman at Yale University who has quickly established himself as a key contributor in the Bulldogs’ offense, earning recognition early in his college career among top Division I freshmen.

 

A Louisville native with Long Island roots, Grogan brings elite box lacrosse instincts and scoring ability developed over eight years under Dylan Gatt, as well as international success with U.S. Indoor lacrosse. He was selected as an Under Armour All-American and ranked among the best players in the 2025 graduating class in North America.

MATT CAMPBELL

Coach

Matt Campbell is a native of Orangeville, Ontario, where his family has deep roots in the Orangeville Northmen Minor Lacrosse Association. Growing up in one of Canada’s most respected lacrosse communities helped shape Matt’s understanding of the game and his commitment to its development.

 

Matt moved to Kentucky to pursue a lacrosse scholarship at Bellarmine University, where he continued his playing career while helping grow the game in a new region. Since arriving in Kentucky, Matt has become a staple in the local lacrosse community, known for his passion for the game and his ability to connect with and develop young athletes.Through his coaching, Matt focuses on building strong fundamentals, confidence, and a competitive mindset while helping players reach their full potential both on and off the floor.

STEVE GROGAN

Steve has played an important role in the growth of lacrosse in Kentucky, contributing to both the indoor and outdoor game for many years. His experience, knowledge, and commitment to developing well-rounded players have made him a valuable part of the lacrosse community throughout the region.

JAMES WHITEFORD

Coach

James Whiteford is from Brampton, Ontario, where he grew up playing in the Brampton Minor Excelsiors program. He attended high school at The Hill Academy, playing under Brodie Merrill, before going on to play Division I lacrosse at Bellarmine University, where he began establishing strong roots in the Louisville lacrosse community.

MIKE BLAYMIRES

Coach

Mike Blaymires is from Guelph, Ontario. He attended Trinity-Pawling School before continuing his career at Bellarmine University, where he currently plays Division I lacrosse.

Blaymires has also built a strong box lacrosse résumé, playing Junior A for the Peterborough Lakers and seeing time with the Senior A Peterborough Lakers, competing alongside many current professional players. Mike has a natural ability for coaching and brings valuable insight and experience to the Louisville lacrosse community through his work in player development.

JOHN ALIE

Coach

With a strong background in box lacrosse, John brings a high level of offensive knowledge and creativity to the Louisville lacrosse community and Monarchs Box Lacrosse. He also played collegiate box lacrosse in Colorado, developing under the guidance of Dillon Ward and Taylor Stuart, which has helped shape his understanding of the indoor game and offensive systems.

JOE ALIE

Coach

Joe Alie attended Grandview High School in Aurora, Colorado, and is currently a sophomore at Bellarmine University. Following a similar path to his brother John, Joe has continued to develop his game at the Division I level while building strong ties within the Louisville lacrosse community.

NICK FERGE

Coach

Nick Ferge is a Wisconsin native and a current defenseman at Bellarmine University. Known for his strong defensive presence and understanding of the game, Nick brings valuable insight into defensive systems and team play.

Through his experience competing at the Division I level, he provides Monarchs Box Lacrosse players with a high level of instruction and a strong emphasis on defensive fundamentals, positioning, and team defense.

IAN RUBEL

Development Coach

Ian Rubel is a three-time NLL Champion’s Cup winner with the Toronto Rock and currently serves as the head coach of the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League. With decades of experience at the highest level of the indoor game, Ian brings an incredible depth of box lacrosse knowledge to the Monarchs program.
